Recently, besides being busy with regular work, and trying to fit in my photography around the ever changing weather here in Scotland, I've been preparing my entry to an international annual black & white photography competition.

The Spider Awards are in their 9th year now, and exclusively feature black & white photography in a wide range of categories for professionals and amateurs alike. With entries coming from all over the world, it is a very well entered and respected competition providing a global showcase.

This year I have entered images in the architectural, nature and wildlife categories, and am hoping that these will do well.

Check out their website, where you can see the previous years winners and noted images for a great selection of mono-imagery.

Wish me luck!

Windy afternoon at Balmedie.

I took myself along to Balmedie beach on Good Friday evening for a walk/hike (!) through the dunes there. It's been a while since I was there last, and nice to see the visitor centre and areas looking so good.

Found a nice shot looking up the coast, from the top of the dunes, overlooking the beach as I sheltered from the wind and at the same time tried to anchor my tripod in the sand so it would not shift.

I've also got some ideas for new locations to go to soon, so hopefully will be able to get some good new shots.
