New Year, New Things..

So, it's 2015..

It's been a while since the last post, but there has been lots going on since my last post in October '14 ...things both photographic, and also personal !

As a bit of news to start the year off with, I have recently entered a couple of large international photography competitions in order to compete with others from around the world.

The competitions I have entered currently are the Nikon Photo Contest which is held every 2 years, and the Sony World Photography Organisation Competition which is an annual event, for both amateurs and professionals alike, with both competitions offering the chance to enter multiple categories of images and compete for great prizes and importantly, recognition.

I know the level of competition is fierce and with tens of thousands of entries there are big odds to being selected, but simply entering to gauge oneself against others is worthwhile in itself (my fingers are crossed just a little bit though). Even gaining a commendation or being selected for later judging rounds would make me very happy.

Happy New Year to everyone!

Recently, besides being busy with regular work, and trying to fit in my photography around the ever changing weather here in Scotland, I've been preparing my entry to an international annual black & white photography competition.

The Spider Awards are in their 9th year now, and exclusively feature black & white photography in a wide range of categories for professionals and amateurs alike. With entries coming from all over the world, it is a very well entered and respected competition providing a global showcase.

This year I have entered images in the architectural, nature and wildlife categories, and am hoping that these will do well.

Check out their website, where you can see the previous years winners and noted images for a great selection of mono-imagery.

Wish me luck!
